Disney's Encanto

We are very excited to partner with Red Latin@Southwest NB, the Department of History and Politics, and the Department of Humanities and Languages to offer a screening of Disney's Encanto.

The film tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto.

The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

The story explores themes of identity, family expectations, and self-worth, celebrating Colombian culture through vibrant music and visuals.

The screening will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Ganong Hall Lecture Theatre at UNBSJ. Light refreshments will be provided, so arrive early to grab a treat and a seat.

As always, everyone is welcome and admission is free.
