
William (Bill) Best is a Canadian post-secondary leader whose career has focused on institutional sustainability, governance, and student success across college and university settings.
He currently serves as Vice-President (Administration and Finance) at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), where he oversees administrative functions, including financial services, budgeting, capital planning, ancillary operations, human resources, information technology, and enterprise risk management. His work focuses on modernizing and digitizing the experience at UNB, alongside its long-term fiscal sustainability.
Before joining UNB, Best served as President and CEO of Cambrian College. Working with colleagues, he helped position the institution for long-term fiscal sustainability, diversify its programming, and advance its evolution toward degree-granting authority and a more globally engaged, year-round model.
At the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), he held senior roles, including Interim President and CEO, Vice-President (Finance and Administration), and Vice-President (Academic and Student Development), contributing to the integration of the provincial system and supporting operational and academic improvements.
He has remained active in governance and community service. He currently serves on the boards of the Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO), as Chair of Interuniversity Services Incorporated (ISI), and as a member of the Maritime College of Forest Technology. He has also held leadership roles, including Chair of the Kivi Park Foundation Board, Chair of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, and President and Vice-President of the Ontario Colleges Library Service.
