Post-secondary education is costly, and many New Brunswick students rely on loans, grants, and bursaries to help them afford it. This study looks at whether financial aid makes a difference in who enrolls, who graduates, and who stays in the province after graduation.
The findings show that financial aid plays an important role in helping students from lower-income neighbourhoods access higher education, and that it is linked to higher graduation rates in some undergraduate programs. However, financial aid does not appear to influence whether graduates remain in New Brunswick—likely because retention rates are already high. These results suggest that financial aid is important for ensuring post-secondary access and supporting student success.
