Ovarian cancer is a serious disease, but there is limited information available in Canada about how often it occurs, how it is treated, and how patients experience the disease over time. This study will help address these gaps by examining ovarian cancer cases across New Brunswick.
Researchers will use health data accessed through DataNB to better understand the characteristics of people diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the province. The study will examine patterns in ovarian cancer, including how many people are diagnosed, how many people are living with the disease, and outcomes such as survival.
The research will also look at the care people receive after diagnosis, including treatments such as surgery and medical therapies for advanced high-grade serous ovarian cancer, the most common and aggressive type of ovarian cancer.
By bringing together information from multiple health datasets, this project will provide a population-level view of ovarian cancer in New Brunswick. The findings may help improve understanding of the disease, support future health planning, and contribute to better evidence about cancer care and outcomes in the province.
