Centre for Musical Arts

The Centre for Musical Arts (CMA) is UNB’s music hub, which offers a variety of non-credit and credit music programs. Our mission is to offer high-quality music programming and activities, accessible to both UNB students and the wider Fredericton community.

Private lessons

Private lessons are available on a wide variety of instruments and styles, now with the option to take lessons virtually. The UNB Conservatory maintains a roster of highly-talented and qualified instructors to help you develop existing skills or learn a new instrument. Fees vary betweem $20-$60 per lesson depending on the instructor and lesson length.

Ensembles

The UNB Conservatory's ensemble programs are designed to give people of all ages, levels, and interests the opportunity to ignite their passion for music.

We offer concert band, chorale and strings programs, which are each geared toward enhancing the learning and enjoyment of your instrument.

Credit courses

The Centre for Musical Arts offers a Music Minor and a variety of credit offerings to enhance the musical knowledge of students at UNB.
 
Courses include traditional topics such as Music Theory, Music History, and Conducting, as well as more specialized classes like Women in Music (MUS 3799), Music, Computers and Technology (MUS 3113), and Music and Cinema (MUS 3204).
 
Our music minor is available to students from all faculties, providing an opportunity to study music from a variety of perspectives. You may focus on performance or history and appreciation based on your particular interest.

Contemporary Management in Arts and Culture (CMAC)

The UNB Centre for Musical Arts, in association with the Government of New Brunswick, is proud to offer our recently developed certificate in Contemporary Management in Arts and Culture (CMAC).
 
The CMAC certificate is a one-of-a-kind program built specifically for developing the skills and knowledge of people that aspire to be arts leaders in the Maritimes and across the country. Our certificate is offered online and designed to fit the needs of working professionals wishing to effectively lead their organizations, projects and ideas in today's changing ecosystem.

The Centre for Musical Arts presents MusicUNB, an annual concert series that features chamber and cutting-edge classical music performances.

MusicUNB showcases New Brunswick and regional top artists, as well as artists from across Canada. As one of the only venues and organizations bringing professional level classical music to Fredericton and surrounding areas, MusicUNB keeps our loyal patrons interested, engaged and excited with the musical offerings that are featured on the UNB stage.
