University Prep Chemistry

CALS 4010

This non-credit interactive course is intended to prepare students for university-level chemistry courses. This course is fast-paced and takes place over 12 weeks. Assessment includes (but is not limited to) weekly assignments, a mid-term and final exam.

Dates: Starts Sept. 11*
Cost: $350 + HST

*The last day to enrol is Sept. 8 (by 4 p.m.). The last day to drop for a refund is Sept. 15 (by 4 p.m.).

Elements and Compounds; Chemical Reactions; Atomic Structure; The Periodic Table; Chemical Names and Formulas; Chemical Quantities; and, Stoichiometry.


Timberlake, Karen C. (2019). Basic Chemistry. Boston, Massachusetts: Pearson Prentice Hall.

The textbook is mandatory, and students must have it on the start date of the course. You may purchase the textbook through the University Bookstore. Textbook options are also available directly from the publisher.

This course is delivered entirely online via Desire2Learn (D2L) and Skype for Business. Students must have access to a computer, microphone and speakers, or a headset. Students will be required to participate in a live, interactive session to take place one evening per week for the duration of the course. Students will also be required to submit a final exam form.

Note: If paying with internet banking it may take 3-5 days for the payment to reach UNB and for your registration to be complete.
