Creating Healthy and Effective Workplace Cultures

Learn how to train others in mental fitness and resiliency practices

The purpose of this professional training series is to equip human resource professionals, managers, business leaders, and workplace consultants with the skills to train others in Positive Workplace Practices (PWP), which promotes enhanced employee wellbeing, engagement, and team performance. This series draws on evidence-based team and organizational practices from positive psychology to promote mental wellbeing and resiliency, allowing individuals, teams, and workplace units to flourish.

Learning objectives

Upon completion, you will learn how to:

  • Understand the basic psychological wellbeing needs of employees and team members, as well as positive workplace practices that meet these needs
  • Identify and apply mental fitness and resiliency practices to promote healthy and effective workplace environments
  • Train others in positive workplace practices and to assess environments using the Mental Fitness and Resiliency Inventory (MFRI)

Details

Over two days, you will participate in two separate 3.5 hour sessions. You will also be provided with online materials, resources, and activities to review and/or complete during the seminar.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for human resource professionals, business leaders, managers of people, and workplace consultants that have influence over positive workplace practices.

Instructors

Dr. Bill Morrison is a counselling psychologist, author, and recognized national speaker in mental health and positive mental health for school and workplace environments. Dr. Morrison was named among 150 Leading Canadians for Mental Health in 2017, receiving the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Difference Maker Award.

Dr. Robert Laurie is an adjunct professor at the University of New Brunswick and president of REL Consultants Inc. He holds a PhD in Education with a specialty in assessment and measurement. He has extensive teaching experience in public schools and University settings as well as provincial, national and international experience in the area of large-scale assessments. He was instrumental in validating the Mental Fitness and Resiliency Inventory in both English and French.
