A team of environmental management students, including Abby Culberson, Darren Greeley, Riley Lavender and Emily Ruttan, have completed a project looking at the sustainability of the muskellunge in the St. John River.

UNB researcher contributing expertise to initiative to help protect whales

Dr. Kimberley Davies, an assistant professor of biological sciences on UNB’s Saint John campus, is working on a $1.2 million-funded project to develop a system that will detect whales using deep-learning algorithms, high-resolution satellite imagery, automation, and geoscience computing.

Pan-Canadian network involving UNB researchers working to model COVID-19 data

Mathematics for Public Health (MfPH), a pan-Canadian network of multi-disciplinary researchers including UNB faculty members Dr. Sanjeev Seahra, Dr. Lin Wang and Dr. James Watmough, announced that the network received $3 million in funding from the federal Emerging Infectious Disease Modelling Initiative.

COVID-19 researchers successfully created antigen production pipeline

A project lead by three UNB biology researchers, Dr. Michael Duffy, Dr. Aurora Nedelcu, and Dr. Shawn MacLellan, developed a viral protein expression and purification pipeline that provides harmless SARS-CoV-2 proteins for research and development purposes.

East coast-west coast partnership cements vision for Health and Technology District Saint John

A joint partnership between the University of New Brunswick, Opportunities New Brunswick (ONB) and B.C.-based Lark Group is set to develop the Health and Technology District Saint John. Through this joint public-private-academic initiative, Saint John is poised to become the leading hub for digital health in Atlantic Canada.

CubeSat NB satellite in the assembly, integration and testing phase

CubeSat NB is a first-of-its-kind partnership among the New Brunswick Community College, the Université de Moncton and the University of New Brunswick. CubeSat NB plans to have New Brunswick's first cube satellite deployed from the International Space Station in 2022.

UNB Saint John’s Promise Partnership celebrated 10-year anniversary

Launched in 2010, the Promise Partnership connects UNB Saint John with the local community through a number of programs, all aimed at closing educational attainment gaps associated with low socio-economic status. The programs are designed to provide academic support to Saint John youth whilst providing volunteering opportunities for UNB students.
