Employment and Social Insurance Number Cards
As an international student you are permitted to work on-campus for up to 20 hrs per week as long as you remain a full-time registered student.
After six months of full-time study you may qualify for an off-campus work permit. If you are not sure whether you qualify, check with the International Student Services Advisors.

Once you are ready to start looking for a job, visit the Employment website or visit Employment Services in Oland Hall G16. The Employment Services Office can help you find employment as well as assist you with your resume, cover letter and interview skills.
Social Insurance Number
All persons who work in Canada must have a Social Insurance Number. To apply for your Social Insurance Number, please go to the Service Canada Centre at 1 Agar Place during regular business hours. (Google Map)
In order to apply for your Social Insurance you will need the following documents:
ON CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT:
- Employment Contract on employer's letterhead (see below)
- Valid Study Permit and Passport
OFF CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT:
- Valid StudyPermit and Passport
- Valid off campus work permit
