Quiet hours
Living in residence means living in a community environment.
There are people here with all different lifestyle and studying habits and, as a consequence, a wide variety of times that your housemates will go to sleep and wake up.
In an effort to establish a sense of mutual understanding and consideration, Residence Life has a Quiet Hours Policy that is described below:
Lenient hours
Out of consideration and leading up to Quiet Hours, the RA will ask for you to start to reduce the noise level. No warnings/fines will be given.
Sunday - Thursday: 10:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Friday - Saturday: 1:30 a.m. - 2:30 a.m.
Quiet hours
RAs will hand out warnings and/or fines and document those in the Judicial Database. (Refer to Residence Handbook for Fine System)
Sunday - Thursday: 11:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Friday - Saturday: 2:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
**Remember, excessive noise does not supercede the right of others to a reasonable level of quietness!**
"I have lived in residence for the past 4 years. Every moment of residence has been a great experience from making new friends, to all the events that the RA's and RC's have put on. The best piece of advice I can give you new students that are arriving in residence is to get involved in as much activities, groups and events as possible. Residence is what you make it. I hope that you will have a fun time in residence as much as I have." Ben Devereux, 4th year B. Sc Marine Biology
