Undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing Advanced Standing Program
This two year program, offered at the Moncton site, builds on students' previous university courses and required prerequisites. This program, designed for students with at least 60 credit hours of university experience, will provide students with an opportunity to complete their Bachelor of Nursing degree in six terms (Fall, Winter, and Summer) over the course of two years and write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) following program completion.
This program has been in existence at UNB Fredericton since 1996. In September 2014, the Faculty of Nursing began the transition of moving this specialized program to the Moncton site. In September 2015 the program launched in Moncton with the first intake of Advanced Standing Bachelor of Nursing Program students beginning classes and clinical placement.
The Advanced Standing Program (ASP) focuses primarily on Nursing courses during the two year program. Foundational courses, including several biology courses, are completed prior to starting the program and this knowledge is supplemented during the two years with an additional biology course. Clinical practicum courses provide opportunities for practice where students work with individuals, families and communities at various stages of the life cycle and in a variety of settings. Clinical practicums will be included in each term of the Advanced Standing Program to allow you to bring your classroom knowledge into the clinical setting.
