About The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER
The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER has been designed to address the integrated wellness needs of the University of New Brunswick and the greater Fredericton community.
Designed by B and H Architects in partnership with Sasaki and Associates, The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER was built by Moncton-based Acadian construction. It is among the largest single construction projects in Fredericton's history.
Athletics and Recreation
Recognizing that UNB's desire for a healthy community must first begin at home, The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER provides a variety of recreation and fitness spaces that are available to students, faculty, staff and members of the greater Fredericton community.
The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER is also home to the Varsity Reds basketball and volleyball programs.
UNB Fredericton's athletic facilities now rival the best across North America. The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER has also made UNB a leader in health and fitness in New Brunswick.
Research
The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER is home to a multidisciplinary collaboration of researchers and partners who focus on fitness and lifestyle assessment and evaluation, pediatric weight management, cardiac rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery rehabilitation, workplace wellness, healthy aging and more.
Key among the multidisciplinary programs of The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER is the world-class Human Performance Laboratory, which is situated in the heard of the building, adjacent to the walking/jogging track. The focus of this vibrant centre will be on research, education, health promotion and chronic disease management services.
