Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
The Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Shop provides services to ensure the efficient, effective and safe operation and maintenance of building heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems and associated controls throughout the UNB campus as well as external facilities including St. Thomas University (STU) and the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada.
Many, but not all heating and ventilating systems for buildings are connected to the central HVAC control centre. This network allows the HVAC systems to be electronically controlled and monitored from a remote central location via computer. Fan units and other components can be scheduled to be off or space temperatures lowered when specific areas are not in use which helps conserve energy. Since adjustments often can be made without sending a technician out to the certain locations, maintenance response time can be quicker.
