Master of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership

The Master of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership program is designed for professionals and academics who want to advance their administrative and leadership capabilities within a leadership role.

Theory, knowledge, capacities, practices and related skills are enhanced through the exploration of school change and improvement, organizational behaviour and theory, school governance, leadership roles and cultural diversity.

The program is also sensitive to leadership in the context of social justice as well as being consistent with the latest regional, national and international leadership standards of practice.

This area of study will be of particular interest to professionals both in Canada and internationally, as there is a growing global demand for school leaders to acquire quality credentials.

Requirements

Applicants to the MEd Educational Administration and Leadership are required to have:

  • a Bachelor of Education degree or its equivalent
  • a grade point average of at least 3.0 (B, or its equivalent)
  • at least three years of teaching or related professional experience
  • previous leadership experience

Deadline

The MEd Administration & Leadership Program deadline dates are Dec. 1 (intended start date in May or September) and July 31 (intended start date in January).

Medium

The Administration and Leadership program facilitates an annual Face-to-Face Cohort, with the first cohort being welcomed to campus in September 2023. The first year of the cohort will be entirely face-to-face on the Fredericton campus and the second year will be face-to-face, with the option to take the courses either online or through distance technology (as per the discretion of the instructor) but still in the cohort.

Most Administration and Leadership courses will be delivered online (outside of the Face-to-Face Cohort). Some of these online courses will run with scheduled interaction (synchronous). Some will run asynchronously, with dialogue mostly on discussion boards in a learning management system. Class sizes are capped at 20 for quality dialogue.
