Academic Orientation 2013

Welcome new students!

students doing icebreakersThis year academic orientation takes place in Tilley Hall Room 303 on Tuesday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th beginning at 9:00am each day.
Tuesday morning begins with the Dean’s Address, and also includes the Opening Ceremony held at the Currie Center.  The afternoon will feature presentations from guest speakers representing key resources on campus; there will also be time to explore the campus.

On Wednesday we will go over academic expectations, and have many more short presentations including one on Co-op (Valerie Whyte) and one on Financial Aid (Shelley Clayton).  In the afternoon, we have a special Faculty of Business Administration Ceremony… attendance is mandatory!

On both days, there will be time to meet your classmates and the activities planned are sure to be a lot of fun! Also, in an effort to make the transition from high school to university as stress-free as possible, you will be assigned a peer mentor.  A peer mentor is an upper year student who has volunteered their time and is interested in helping new students adjust to university life.  You will be able to contact your peer mentor all throughout the year with any questions. Keep in mind, the peer mentors have all been in your shoes! You will meet your peer mentor on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd!
You may want to bring a clip board/paper & pen as you will be getting lots of information and handouts.
See you at academic orientation!
