Basu D. Sharma
BASU D. SHARMA, Professor, joined the Faculty of Business Administration in 1985 and is a member of the Human Resources Area. He also is a Certified Human Resource Professional by the Human Resources Association of New Brunswick. He received the UNB Merit Award for extraordinary performance in research, service, and teaching during 1990 and 1998. He will receive the Faculty of Business Administration's Excellence in Research Award in November 2006 for outstanding performance across his career.
Basu has held appointments at the National University of Singapore, Tribhuvan University (Kathmandu, Nepal), and University of Saskatchewan. He has been a consultant for the International Labour Organization, the Singapore National Employers Federation, and the Singapore Institute of Labour.
Dr. Sharma is a pacifist, and devotes his spare time to promote the cause of international peace, environmental protection, and poverty elimination through writings, public speeches, and private discourse.
He is the founding editor of: Business Journal, the Journal of Comparative International Management. He sits on the editorial boards of: the Journal of Management, the International Journal of Management Literature, Labour and Management in Development, Research and Practice in Human Resource Management, and Workplace Review.
Basu's wide-ranging interests include: human resources management; comparative-international employment relations; international human resource management; compensation systems; business negotiation; and e-business issues. He has published papers in: Applied Economics, ASEAN Economic Bulletin , Asian Economies, Asian Pacific Journal of Human Resource Management, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Economics Letter, Euro-Asia Business Review, Industrielle Beziehungen, Industrial Relations, Journal of Labour Research, Journal of Asian Business, Studies in Comparative International Development, and Total Quality Management Journal. He has contributed chapters to about a dozen edited volumes. He is the author of Industrial Relations in ASEAN: A Comparative Study.
