Elin E. Maher
ELIN E. MAHER, Professor, joined the Faculty of Business Administration in 1988 and is a member of the Accounting/MIS Area. She teaches Managerial Accounting and Cost Accounting in the BBA program and Accounting for Managers in the MBA program. She was designated a UNB Teaching Scholar in 2004, a three year appointment. She received the Faculty of Business Administration's Excellence in Teaching Award in 1998 and 2008. She also received the MBA Society Professor Recognition award in 2006.
Prior to joining the faculty, Elin worked in industry and in public practice. In public practice she worked with international chartered accounting firms in Canada and in Bermuda. Elin has served as board member or trustee for both provincial and national organizations.
In 2010, Elin acted as the UNB lead for the accreditation of our BBA, Honours Accounting, program with CMA Canada
Professor Maher's teaching and research interests are in the areas of financial, international and managerial accounting. She is the co-author of textbook and learning materials in accounting and has developed professional educational materials. She has been a developer of examinations for the Certified General Accountants' Association of Canada, a process subject to intensive peer-review. Her publications have appeared in: the Journal of Accounting Case Research, the Journal of Open and Distance Learning, and the Journal of University Continuing Education.
