MBA in Sport and Recreation Management

The MBA in Sport and Recreation Management program allows students to turn their passion for sport and recreation into a viable and satisfying career. Students take a combination of courses in general management and in current and emerging issues related to sport and recreation. This program prepares students for a career with a variety of public, private and not-for-profit organizations such as professional and amateur sports leagues and associations, recreation facilities, resorts and parks, and in the field of sport tourism.

Students graduate with knowledge and skills in marketing, finance, public relations, human resources and strategic planning. They will also be literate in current issues in the sport and recreation world.

During the first year of the program students take a combination of business and Kinesiology courses. In the second year, they can choose between writing a thesis, taking more courses, or participating in a sport and recreation executive internship. Students have spent their internships working with such teams as the L.A. Kings and the Ottawa Senators, as well as with various hockey leagues, and sports and recreations organizations across Canada and the US. Additionally, students participate in a weekly colloquium during both years of the program when they are on campus.
