Learn and experience entrepreneurship

Expand your entrepreneurial know-how, build your network, and learn the ins and outs of a start-up with help from the International Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (IBEC).

Housed within the Faculty of Management at the University of New Brunswick, IBEC fosters partnerships between UNB and the business community through experiential learning, research and training. Because of these partnerships, our programs and events offer many interesting networking opportunities throughout the year.

Entrepreneurship highlights

Experiential learning

IBEC provides experiential learning opportunities for students looking to make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality. Specialize in an entrepreneurship concentration, make investment decisions and lots more.

Student Venture Fund

The Fraser Student Venture Fund provides students with the opportunity to research and analyze businesses that are in the start-up stage of development and award cash investments to those they consider investment ready.

Up to two start-ups each year are selected to receive investments of up to $25,000 each from the fund, positioning them for further development.

Venture Analyst Leadership Program

The Venture Analyst Leadership Program pairs students with an actual start-up venture to gain valuable real-world experience while on their way to earning a concentration in entrepreneurship. No matter what you want to do when you finish your degree, the leadership skills you build as a venture analyst will help you launch your career.

Engaging competitions

IBEC hosts multiple competitive events which attract students from all over Canada. Put your business skills to the test and learn from successful entrepreneurs and individuals from the business community.

Apex Business Plan Competition

The Apex Business Plan Competition is the largest business plan competition of it's kind in Atlantic Canada, involving teams of students from universities across Canada. If you're an aspiring entrepreneur, this competition offers you the chance to compete in both undergraduate and graduate level competitions and to meet student entrepreneurs from across Canada.

Data Challenge

If you’re interested in telling a story with data, we have a challenge for you. The Data Challenge offers three competitive data competitions across two days, open to all students and community members looking to make an impact with data.

  1. Data Visualization Competition (5th Annual)
