Your course of study

During the first two years of the BBA program students take a combination of non-business courses from other faculties and courses that provide a solid academic grounding in the core subjects of business. In years three and four, students can specialize by pursuing honours or concentrations in their favourite area of business or by enrolling in one of our unique experiential programs.

Year 1: The first year of the BBA program will expose students to the theory underlying future business courses through the following core business requirements:  accounting, administration, business communications and marketing.   In addition, students take courses in economics, humanities, languages, mathematics and social sciences.

Year 2: In the second year students take the following core business courses: accounting, business communications, business ethics, finance, human resources, management science, marketing, organizational behaviour and statistics. Students also continue taking non-business courses.  At the end of the fall term, students may choose to apply to the Co-op program. They must also decide whether to enter the honours program, concentrate in an area of business, or pursue minors or studies in other disciplines.

Year 3: Students continue to study the core areas of business, including business law, management of information systems and organization design. Students who have chosen a concentration will choose electives from their area of interest. Honours students also begin their major.

The Faculty of Business Administration's BBA program is now accredited by CMA CanadaYear 4: In the final year the core areas of business come together in competitive strategy, the capstone course of the BBA program. Students who are in the honours program, concentrating in an area of business, or pursuing a minor in another faculty must complete all of the remaining required courses.
