Co-op Employers Responsibilities

  • Appoint a supervisor to provide appropriate training, advice and feedback to the student. 
  • Supply a suitable work space. 
  • Provide relevant, paid work experience. 
  • Aid the student in the choice of a work presentation topic. 
  • Complete a performance evaluation form and review it with the student at the end of the work term. Submit the evaluation to the University.

How are the Students Paid?

Employers are expected to pay the students for the work that is completed.  The figures below indicate an "average" salary paid to Co-op students.  It is recognized that each employer will have their own salary scale and that some jobs will be above or below these averages.  For the scale below, the salary for work term W3 assumes two previous work terms, etc.  A week is assumed as 36.25 hours , a month is 4.33 weeks.
