Allan Reid

Professor and Chair

Allan Reid has been Chair of Culture and Language Studies since its creation in 1999.  He has published on a variety of subjects, including Soviet and Russian literary theory (Lotman and Bakhtin), various aspects of Russian literature (primarily 20th-century), and recently his focus has been on Soviet underground culture and literature from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s, in particular, the poetry and life of Natalia Gorbanevskaia. 

He has taught a large number of courses in Russian Language, Literature and Culture, World Literature, and Holocaust Literature.

He is also currently Chair of the AUNBT Grievance Committee.
