GIS/Forestry FOR 5281 Three (3) credit hours

The course introduces GIS via the industry-standard ArcGIS Pro (system requirements) and emphasizes learning GIS through applied environmental management scenarios. Specifically, applications in land base inventory and mapping using data for the UNB Woodlot.

Course details

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

Assignments and examinations

  • 16 x Assignments (40% total)
  • 3 x Quizzes (15% total)
  • 1 x Final Exam (45%)

System requirements

This course requires the use of ArcGIS Pro.

A windows-only program, please ensure that your computer is suitable for installation. Learn more about the minimum system requirements.

Note: Mac users can still install ArcGIS desktop on their computer using BootCamp or a virtual machine (VM) such as Parallels. Additionally, students may use the UNB Virtual Lab to access the software remotely using a PC or Mac.

A fully-featured 1-year academic trial of ArcGIS Pro can be provided to registered students, if necessary.
