Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a pressing public health challenge in New Brunswick, with a rate of 449 victims per 100,000 residents (Statistics Canada, 2023).
Between 2018 and 2023, police-reported IPV increased by 26.1%—nearly double the national increase. Despite the alarming trend, New Brunswick lacks an integrated provincial data structure capable of supporting coordinated early identification, intervention, and prevention.
Existing systems remain fragmented, siloed, and governed by inconsistent policies.

This forum will bring together key stakeholders — decision-makers, researchers, service providers, Indigenous partners, and community partners — to present the Institute of Population Health’s findings from its recent gap analysis and to collectively begin building a Provincial IPV Data Integration Framework.
The primary outcome of this event will be a series of recommendations for IPV data integration across the province, accompanied by a detailed description of the current state of IPV-related data systems. Additional objectives include:
This event represents a critical transition from research to action. Rather than concluding with a publication, this forum will build provincial consensus, incentivize shared ownership of implementation, and reduce siloed responses to IPV.
The long-term vision is to position New Brunswick as a leader in integrated IPV data governance and prevention strategy — grounded in safety, equity, and cross-sector collaboration.
