Event Planning Tools

On this page we have information and resources for planning a student event at UNB.

Event Planning Guide

This event planning guide has been prepared to assist Primary Event Organizers (PEO) who are responsible for organizing events on or off campus that are a function of a university student group. The ultimate goal of the UNB community is to provide safe, fun, and successful events for all participants, as well as our guests, visitors, alumni and broader community. The PEO(s) for any event plays a significant role in reaching this goal and this guide is intended as a tool to assist them in their planning.

The Student Events Application is required for all student based groups wishing to organize a non-academic activity/event other than a regular meeting of its membership/members. As well, all events that include physical activity, food or beverage services, off-campus transportation, or animals require an application be completed.

While this is not an exhaustive list, the following are examples of student-led initiatives that would be excluded:

• Informal or Formal discussion-based meetings
• Practice for clubs or groups without physical activity
• Peer Mentor initiatives with Faculty approval

All other student-planned events should be applied for through the Student Events Application Form.

The application and approval processes ensure that the proposed event or activity aligns with the mission of the University and that all applicable policies and guidelines are followed. In order to ensure the success of the event, please comply with the process outlined in this guide. If you have questions or need some assistance, please contact the Student Engagement Coordinator.
