Meet the Peer Support Team

Peer Supporter

Hi! I am Denisha, an international student from Mumbai, India, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology along with a minor in Psychology and I am absolutely thrilled to be one of the peer supporters for this year! I have struggled with mental health issues since I was a teenager due to which I understand the importance of having that support, whether from family, friends, peers, or others.

Seeking help was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made, bringing me so much peace and joy. It took me years to realize that mental health is a journey, one that can be made much easier with the right kind of support, and the peer supporter team is here to provide you with that support.

We are here to listen to you, help you, and reassure you that you are not alone in this. You are heard and your feelings are valid.

Hi, my name is Daniel Lush (feel free to call me Danny, Dan or just Daniel), and I am one of this year’s UNBF’s peer supporters! I am currently in my 2nd year of Civil Engineering at UNB. I am originally from Burlington Ontario but have lived in Moncton for the last 13 years. I suffered from severe depression and anxiety for years and genuinely want to help my peers as good mental health is quite important to me!

Hi there! I’m Annie Marie, currently pursuing a BA in Psychology and Law in Society, and I’m happy to be one of the peer supporters this year! I’m an international student as I am Filipino but have lived in Dubai since I was young, so I understand what it’s like to move abroad and settle into a completely new environment.

Throughout the years, I’ve experienced mental health challenges such as anxiety, for instance, that have affected certain aspects of my life. Therefore, I believe that it’s important to eliminate the stigma and stereotypes associated with mental health and I hope to help establish a safe space for everyone. With these experiences, training, and support from our team, I wish to connect with and support you through your experiences to explore different ways we can get through things together. As a peer supporter, I also hope to ensure you feel heard, understood, and most importantly, not alone.

We’re here for you! And we’re excited to meet you very soon. :)

I am originally from Sussex, New Brunswick. I am in my fourth year pursuing a major in psychology, a minor in English and a specialization in neuroscience. I have always been passionate about mental health advocacy and helping others, so I am excited to participate in the Peer Support Program. I enjoy being involved in the community by volunteering for different groups. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
