Writing & Study Skills Program

We provide individual appointments, drop-in consultations, and workshops for all full- and part-time UNB students. Our specialty is academic writing, but we also work with students to develop other abilities such as time management, note-taking, examination preparation, and presentation skills.

NOTE: we will have drop-in hours on Sunday, 4 Nov., 6:00-10:00pm, HIL 410.

Booked Appointments

Appointments will be available for booking beginning on 10 September. To book an appointment, please call 453-4527 or 452-6051 (Writing Centre) or email the Writing Centre. You can also use the online Student Services booking form. Check our online calendar for available appointments (marked "open"). You will find us in room 410 of the Harriet Irving Library (next to the elevator), and we offer booked appointments all year. Please bring a printed copy of any work you wish to discuss; a copy of the assignment description can also be helpful. To cancel an appointment, call 453-4527 or email us.

Drop-in Sessions

Evening drop-in sessions will resume on September 17, 2018. Hours are 6:00pm to 10:00pm, Mondays through Thursdays, at both the HIL location and the Computer Science and Engineering Library in Head Hall. In addition, we will be launching "Writing Wednesdays" at the Science and Forestry Library, also from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. NEW! Additional drop-in hours: Sundays, 6:00 to 10:00, 410 HIL. For those new to the drop-in Writing Centre service, please note that these half-hour sessions are booked on the day they are held, using physical sign-up sheets posted at 6:00pm on the door of the relevant location. Please remember to bring a printed copy of the work you wish to discuss--and a pen!

Cancellations/Changes of Hours

During Reading Week (Nov. 4-10) we will have evening drop in hours ONLY at HIL 410; we will be closed on Monday, Nov. 5, but daytime appointments will be available for the rest of the week (see online calendar for available appointments, marked "open." 


We offer workshops in a number of areas and we have online self-study materials. Contact us if your group or class would like to host a workshop. We can also be booked through the Skills in Context program.
