Autism & Behavioural Intervention Programming

Whether you are a front-line practitioner, a caregiver, or a health-care professional, our programs will help you provide more effective support to people with behaviour disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Certificate

The first program of its kind in Atlantic Canada that meets the coursework requirements needed to apply to write the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board®, Inc. (BACB®) Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst® (BCaBA®) examination. Students can complete the certificate along with their undergrad program. Upon successful completion of this program you may be eligible to apply to write the exam to become certified.

BCaBA® certification graduates are highly sought after by employers.

Application deadlines

  • On campus - March 31 for admission in the fall term.
  • Online - March 31, August 1, or November 15 for admission in the following term.

Autism Intervention Training Program (AITP)

This program is also available in French.

Learn to intervene with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and their families to promote their development and independence through the implementation of an individualized intervention plan based on an intensive behavioural approach. All courses in this program are based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Start date is Feb. 7, 2022. The practicum will provide 12 days of online training sessions via Zoom, working closely with autism experts.

This program is the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada to meet the coursework requirements needed to apply for BACB® Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) Credential. The program is based on the RBT Task List and is designed to exceed the 40-hour training requirement for the credential. It is offered independent of the BACB®. Visit for details.

The Certificate in Psychologically Safe Leadership (CPSL) is a self-paced, online program that is designed to empower new and developing managers like you to support the mental fitness of employees, reduce mental harms, and promote mental health in the workplace.

In this certificate, you will learn how to:

  • Explore the key skills required to be psychologically safe and to support the total well-being of your workplace
  • Gain insight on how to deal with crisis situations in the workplace
  • Explore how leaders can support employees at risk due to impairment, substance use and mental health concerns

New Brunswick Critical Care Nursing Program (NBCCNP)

Registered Nurses currently employed by NB Regional Health Authorities and novice to the critical care setting may apply.

This 11-week, professional development certificate program is delivered primarily online with on-site clinical tutorials and a 135-hour clinical preceptorship in critical care.
