UNB Chorale

Join a choir community based on peer mentorship. Open to all chorale singers, this non-auditioned chamber choir is a combination of UNB students and staff together with professionals from the Fredericton area. Though beneficial, the ability to sight read is not essential for Chorale members.

About the instructor

David Steeves is a music educator, organist, singer and choral enthusiast. He is a graduate of Cairn University, B.Sc, B.Mus (Philadelphia, PA) and St. Thomas University, B.Ed (Fredericton, NB). Recently a recipient of “The Minister’s Excellence in Teaching Award” by the Province of New Brunswick, David was recognized for his commitment, energy and creativity when instructing music classes and ensembles.

Residing in Fredericton for over 35 years he has served as Director of Music at several local churches as organist and conductor of choristers of all ages. During this time he was chosen to represent our province in The National Youth Choir (Vancouver, BC) and has been tenor soloist with the Fredericton Choral Society, Moncton Choral Society, Symphony Chorus of Saint John and the New Brunswick Choral Federation. He was conductor of the STU Singers for their 2012-2013 Season. In 2009 David received the Robert Charlton Bayley Memorial Award from the Fredericton Music Society recognizing his music leadership in the local community and in church music.

Presently he is the music teacher at the Devon Middle School where he directs their Band and Choral program. He also serves as Music Coordinator for the Middle/High School students at Fredericton Christian Academy.
