Pottery Basics

Try your hand at pottery. Get hands-on experience in this five-week beginner’s pottery class with professional potter Emily Veysey as your guide.

You’ll focus on the initial stages of making pottery: making, decorating, glazing and firing. You’ll also experience hand-building techniques and sculptural work in clay, be introduced to a variety of glazes and the glazing process, before firing your creations. Everything needed is supplied. Just bring your creativity! (Please note: wheel throwing is not included in this beginner’s stage.)

Thursdays, Jan. 24 - Feb. 21, 2019 (5 weeks)
Wednesdays, March 13 - April 10, 2019 (5 weeks)

Course fee: $249 (+ HST) - Includes $70 materials fees

About the instructor

Emily Veysey is a potter and ceramic artist working in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Originally from Sussex, Emily moved to Fredericton to attend the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, where she completed her Certificate in Foundation of Visual Arts, Diploma in Fine Craft and Design, and a Certificate in Graduate Studies.

After spending some time on the Executive Committee for the New Brunswick Crafts Council, she established a cooperative studio in 2014 in downtown Fredericton. Emily currently works part-time in her studio, along with several other colleagues to create unique, individual work for sale and exhibition.
