About the UNB Art Centre

The UNB Art Centre takes a multi-cultural, multi-generational and multi-disciplinary approach to education, engaging members of the public as active participants in a vibrant learning environment.

Founded in 1941 by prominent Canadian artists Pegi Nicol MacLeod and Lucy Jarvis, the UNB Art Centre was conceived as a link between the university and the wider community. For over 70 years the UNB Art Centre has delivered innovative learning opportunities to people of all ages.

The UNB Art Centre promotes dialogue and discussion, encouraging engagement with art and artists through exhibitions, and events as well as the UNB Permanent Collection. Artists talks, workshops and the student group ArtZone enhance the artistic experience by encouraging the development of technical skill and visual literacy. Non-credit courses and workshops provide accessible and flexible learning opportunities to achieve personal growth and fulfillment for traditional and non-traditional students, contributing to the experience of life-long learning at UNB.

Through this and a variety of special programs and partnerships, the UNB Art Centre participates in making the City of Fredericton a vibrant cultural destination.
