What courses make up the DOHS?

The diploma consists of four mandatory core courses and six additional elective courses, selected from a list of nine. All courses are open access, meaning you can register and begin at any time of the year.

Each course consists of a cumulative exam that covers all the content of the course, as well as one assignment and one reflection paper. The exam is multiple choice and the assignment and reflection paper are submitted as an upload in your learning platform.

Each student is given 13 weeks to complete each course, which requires approximately 46 hours of student engagement. Because the program is self-directed, students have the option of studying at a full- or part-time level.

What is a passing grade?

An overall grade of 70% is required to successfully pass each course. The grade will be based on the results of two written assignments and a final exam. Weighting of each item is available within the important course information in the D2L learning platform.

How long does it take to complete a course and how long does the program take?

Each course involves approximately 46 hours of student engagement (i.e. time spent with your studies).

Students are given a target of 13 weeks in which to complete a course but may complete in less or more time, according to their own unique schedule.

Similarly, the self-paced nature of the DOHS allows the student to complete the program according to their timeline. This means that while some students may take up to two or more years to complete the program, others may complete in as little as six months.
