Robin Rocca - In Memoriam
Born and raised in Saint John, NB, Robin made a positive impact on many individuals in his 29 years. “Robin Rocca's loyalty to family and life-long friends, his fierce pride in Saint John and in his family, his determination, warmth, goodness, work ethic, athleticism and positive attitude all spring to the minds of those close to him.” Telegraph Journal, Oct 5, 2009.
After graduating from St. Malachy’s High School with high honours, Robin attained his degree in electrical engineering from UNB in 2003. He was an Electrical Engineer with Efficiency New Brunswick and was involved in several worthy charitable causes including Habitat for Humanity.
During his courageous battle with Leukemia, Robin lent his voice to advocate for organ, stem cell, marrow and blood donation – making an impact that continues beyond his passing. He passed away on September 18, 2009, leaving behind his family, friends, wife, and baby to be, Robin Rocca Jr.
It was Robin's desire to give back to the community that he cared so much for in a meaningful and enduring way. In tribute to Robin, a University of New Brunswick scholarship named the Robin Rocca Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established. In keeping with Rocca’s background as an Engineering graduate, the scholarship will benefit students studying Science, Engineering or Computer Science at UNB. Recipients will embody Rocca’s character, high academic achievement and share his love of sport. They will also demonstrate his leadership skills and have a proven commitment to family and the community at large.
You may contribute to the Robin Rocca Memorial Scholarship Fund by donating online now or by mailing it to UNB’s Development & Donor Relations Offices in Saint John or Fredericton. Thank you for your support.
