In this fun and dynamic course, you will learn the basics of the Russian language and grow your understanding of the culture through food (of course!), hockey, art, and more! We’ll look at the Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet and basic vocabulary, you’ll be able to impress your friends and family by writing your name in Cyrillic. We’ll examine Russian Stereotypes, weather, health practices, and learn some delicious traditional recipes!
By the end of this class you will be able to introduce yourself in Russian and carry on a very simple conversation.

Dina Kozyanina grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia and has lived in Canada and the U.S. for over 30 years. She is a bilingual Russian-English speaker with extensive experience teaching both Russian and English as a second language. As a dynamic and friendly teacher who is passionate about her work, Dina likes to engage her students in a variety of classroom activities while helping them gain confidence in the often daunting task of leaning a new language – especially an unfamiliar one like Russian! She also offers one on one language courses in both Russian and English as a second language, as well as translation services for individuals and companies.
