Parent Resources for Design Works Camps

During Summer 2023, the drop-off for all our camps will take place at Memorial Hall, 9 Bailey Drive on the UNB Fredericton Campus.
**Except for the weeks of July 31 & Aug. 7, when the Steal the Stage & Shake it Up! Dance camps will be held in Marshall d’Avary Hall, 10 MacKay Drive.

This year we have moved our Game Design/ Coding camps & our Jr. Master Chef camps to the Kinesiology building with the drop-off occurring at Memorial Hall.

Drop off procedures: Drop off will take place at Memorial Hall, 9 Bailey Drive.  Design Works has a drive through style drop off area. A staff member will be outside to greet you. Drop off time is from 7:45 am – 9:00 am

Pick up procedure: pick-up time is 4pm-5pm, and it will take place on Peter Kelly Dr. as follows:

On regular days, we will be outside in the field across from the Currie Center.

On rainy or extremely hot days: we will be inside the Kinesiology building. An email will be sent out with more details.

If you need to pick-up your camper before 4 pm, or drop off after 9am, please come to the Art Centre office in Memorial Hall, 9 Bailey Dr., first office on the right when you enter the front doors (room 11).

On the first day


Every day

  • Lunch and snacks (no nut or shellfish products)
  • Re-fillable water bottle
  • Clothing for outdoor play (hat, sunglasses, sweater, etc)
  • Sunscreen (first applied at home)
  • Appropriate clothing for artwork
  • Required materials (listed in camp description)

Please do not bring any electronic devices or cell phones to the camps. Any devices found will be kept in the office until the end of the camp day. Your cooperation is appreciated.

If you are running late or your child will not be attending camp on a certain day, or if you need to sign your child out early, please call and let us know (506-453-4623 or 506-452-6360).

There is a $10 late pick-up fee for any time after 5 p.m. (within the first 30 minutes) and $10 for every half hour after.


Cleaning and sanitizing

  • All camp spaces will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
  • Children will receive a package of materials to use throughout the week that will not be shared with other campers. 
  • Frequent hand washing will be done throughout the day.

Policies


Thanks to the generous funding of the Fredericton Community Foundation, we are able to offer a limited number of scholarships for our Design Works 2023 Summer Camps. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, please apply here.

Please help kids to attend camp by contributing to our scholarship fund here. Any contribution is helpful, and donors will receive a charitable donation receipt. 


  • Participants wishing to withdraw from a Design Works camp must do so by telephone or email. A full refund of tuition minus a $50 processing fee will be issued provided withdrawals are made on or before May 26, 2023.
  • Withdrawals made after May 26 will receive a 50% refund unless made five days or less before the beginning of a camp.
  • There are no refunds for withdrawals made five business days, before the beginning of a camp, except for medical reasons. All medical requests must be made in writing and be fully supported and documented by a practicing physician with the Medical Association.
  • Tansfers between camps may be possible and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Full payment is due at registration. There is no reduction in tuition for students who join a camp late or miss class(es). Non-attendance does not constitute official withdrawal. Withdrawals must be done in person, by email or in writing to the College of Extended Learning in Fredericton. Camps are conditional on enrollment. A full refund is issued in the event that a camp is cancelled.

IMPORTANT: If public health restrictions are reinstated that prevent us from holding in-person camps, you will receive a full refund.
