Changes to UNB student/alumni e-mail system for 2011 grads

connectEd for Alumni who completed their last course less than one year ago

If you completed your last UNB course less than one year ago, you will be getting connectEd this October along with current UNB students. So what does this mean to you?

Why am I moving with current students?

When you graduate from UNB, you receive a one-year grace period providing you with continued access to your IT services. This grace period gives you time to transfer saved files, redirect emails and access your personal information as you transition from student to Alumni. Traditionally, when this grace period ended, Alumni would lose access to their IT services and only have access to an email forwarding service. Now, with connectEd, Alumni will continue to have full access to the connectEd toolkit — email, personal calendar, 25GB of file storage, messaging and collaboration tools.

What happens with my email address and mailbox?

You are keeping your UNB email address, full email functionality and more with connectEd!

When current students move to connectEd the week of October 17, you will move to connectEd as well. Once the move to connectEd is complete you will no longer use WebMail to access and send emails. Instead, you will be given a Microsoft Live@edu account, which uses your same UNB email address. All of your emails will be migrated over to your new Live@edu mailbox, which you get to keep even after your one-year grace period is over to send and receive emails.

How do I access these services?

While you are still in your grace period, you can access the connectEd services through your myUNB Portal. After your grace period ends (you will be notified by email) you will have to go directly to http://outlook.com/unb.ca and use your UNB login ID and password to continue to access your email and the rest of the connectEd toolkit. This is because after your grace period ends, you lose access to some IT services such as the myUNB Portal, your H:Drive and eServices.

I still have questions?

If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 506-453-5199 or helpdesk@unb.ca.
