No-Show Policy
The first time in a semester that a student does not show up for a scheduled appointment and does not contact Counselling Services prior to the appointment time to cancel the appointment they will be required to come to Counselling Services to schedule their next appointment (i.e. they will not be allowed to schedule the next appointment over the phone or by e-mail). The second time a student “no-shows” for an appointment during the same semester they will no longer be allowed to schedule regular appointments until the following semester. At the beginning of the following semester the student will be placed in the queue of students waiting for services and will not be guaranteed of being assigned to the Counsellor they previously saw . Students who are not allowed to schedule regular appointments because they have “no-showed” for two appointments in a semester may ask to be seen in one of our daily urgent appointment spots if they are experiencing a crisis or an emergency.
Students will receive e-mail notifications of consequences for both the first and second “no-shows.” These notifications will also include information on how to access local resources that provide counselling and crisis services.
Exceptions to this policy may be made when a student “no-shows” as a result of circumstances beyond their control.
