Disability related information is to be treated as medical information. Any information regarding your disability is considered confidential and will be shared with others within the institution on a need-to-know basis only.
To protect confidentiality by assuring limited access, all disability-related information must be filed securely with the SAC. Information in files will not be released except in accordance with federal and provincial laws. Exceptions arising from Canadian law include:
You may give written authorization for the release of information when you wish to share information from your file with others. The SAC may, at times, ask you to read and sign a Release of Information form. This release gives us permission, if necessary, to request any additional medical and/or psychological information pertaining to your current functional limitations for the purpose of determining Disability Services eligibility and planning appropriate accommodations.
Your file may be released pursuant to a court order or subpoena.
