The Information Security Centre of Excellence (ISCX) is a research centre within Faculty of Computer Science, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. ISCX has been established in 2007 to accelerate cybersecurity research and development at UNB. Since then, ISCX evolved to one of the largest R&D  research centers in Canada involved in a broad spectrum of education and industrial collaborations.

Ara Labs Security Solutions is recognized as the 'Most promising start-up'

ISCX's spun off Sentrant (formerly Ara Labs Security Solutions) received the ‘most promising start up’ award from the New Brunswick Knowledge Industry Recognition and Achievement (KIRA) in 2014.

ISCX is awarded $1,8 AIF funding

Ali Ghorbani, dean of the faculty of computer science and director of UNB’s Information Security Centre received approximately $1.8 million to address security breaches and vulnerabilities that compromise critical information system infrastructure.

Sentrant (formerly, Ara Labs Security Solutions) is a spin off from ISCX. In 2013 Ara Labs received the ‘most promising start up’ award from the New Brunswick Knowledge Industry Recognition and Achievement (KIRA).
Since its inception, ISCX has brought to UNB  over $5M in research funding and trained over 30 professionals.
ISCX  students originate from more than 10 countries, contributing to the cultural fabric of our host communities and the entire province.
