About MWC

In addition to its academic programs, the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre provides a variety of services, including curriculum development for schools, and research and publication in the fields of Wolastoqey (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq languages, First Nations education, First Nations children’s literature, and history.

The centre also maintains the Mi’kmaq-Maliseet Resource Collection, with materials on culture, history, language, and current issues, which is part of the UNB library system and available for use by all.

A principal goal of the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre is to maintain the high quality of UNB programs for First Nations students and to continue to broaden the First Nations content and perspectives in these programs.

The centre designs and offers programs which meet stated needs of the First Nations of the region and contribute to their educational and professional growth.
