University of New Brunswick Service Awards
Three dedicated faculty and staff members of the Faculty of Science, Applied Science, and Engineering have each been awarded a University of New Brunswick Service Award for their hard work and dedication.
The recipients include: Don Scott (Research Support Technician), Jo-Anne Stevens (Biology Technician), and Ramesh C. Prasad (Professor of Mechanical Engineering).
Don Scott has been awarded a UNB Distinguished Service Award. Since the spring of 2009, Don has been a huge asset to UNB researchers as he is a dedicated, hardworking, and reliable employee with a pleasant demeanor. Researchers of both the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science, Applied Science, and Engineering have benefitted greatly from his service.
Jo-Anne Stevens has been awarded a UNB Distinguished Service Award. Jo-Anne has put in a significant amount of work over the years at UNBSJ. She graduated from UNB Saint John 34 years ago and has worked in the Biology Department for 33 years. She has maintained a high interest towards this field of study. Jo-Anne always assured the labs were stocked and ready for students. She has recently retired.
Ramesh C. Prasad has been awarded a UNB Distinguished Service Award. He has supervised and/or co-supervised numerous masters and PhD students, served on the examining advisory committee for a large number of graduate students, and taught several graduate courses in engineering.
In addition, he received NSERC and other research grants for over 25 years and supervised many undergraduate students from the Fredericton campus in their research projects and hired many undergraduate students in Saint John. Recipient of UNB Merit Award twice in the past, he has authored (and co-authored) over 80 papers and reports.
He has published a large number of refereed papers in international journals, presented his work in international conferences and reviewed papers for several international journals in thermo-fluids and thermal properties. Ramesh is loved and respected at UNB Saint John.
Over the years he has served as Acting Chair and Chair of Department of Engineering for a total of 5 years. Ramesh is expected to retire in June of 2012 after completing about 30 years of service.
