ALAR Research Focus
Our research focuses mainly on impacts of environmental change on bird populations and communities, primarily from the perspectives of evolutionary ecology and conservation. Change is evidently the norm in most ecosystems, and this is becoming increasingly evident as the global climate continues to warm. Dividing our research into general categories is somewhat arbitrary, and could be done in different ways (marine and forested systems, for example); most projects include elements of several categories. Geographically we have ranged from the Arctic to the Caribbean, from Hawaii to Labrador, reflecting a kaleidoscope of interests of our students, collaborators, and funding agencies.
