Digital transformation in the built environment

This specialty conference is among the first of its kind with presentations that include peer-reviewed papers, workshops and relevant case studies from industry to engage attendees in discussions about new and emerging technologies in the construction industry. These topics focus on tools being used to enhance existing processes and inform better decisions for building, operating, and maintaining the built environment.

The conference technical program will also feature state-of-the-art technologies and presentations on leading research from around the world. These sessions will be used as catalysts to discuss and explore applicable recent practices and new research in the field of reality capture.

Conference topics

The conference technical committee welcomes topics related to the specialty conference theme – reality capture technologies in the built environment. The topics of interest, include but are not limited to, RC-related innovations and applications in areas such as:

  • Integration of reality capture with modern technologies (i.e., 3D printing, augmented/virtual/mixed reality, UAVs, etc.)
  • Laser scanning to building information modelling (BIM) generation
  • Quality inspection, condition assessment, safety monitoring and productivity improvement
  • Resource and activity tracking
  • Surveying, visual documentation and as-is modelling
  • Use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning

The technical program consists of a variety of offerings for both researchers and industry practitioners:

  • Presentations on peer review research papers
  • Case studies
  • Innovation pitch stream
  • Workshops
  • 5-minute student competition

Important dates

  • May 13, 2022 – Abstract/extended abstract submission deadline
  • May 20, 2022 – Notification of abstract/extended abstract acceptance
  • June 24, 2022 – Full paper submission deadline
  • July 15, 2022 – Notification of full paper acceptance
  • Aug. 5, 2022 – Final papers uploaded to Easy Chair
