Senior Navigator Website Pilot Project

Lead organization: Government of New Brunswick, Social Development

Principle investigator(s): Erin Wilson and Julie David

About the project:

The issue

Information related to government programs, services and supports is confusing and inconsistent making it challenging to navigate. Government does not display information in a manner that seniors or the individuals supporting them can easily find and understand.

The importance

Seniors’ are not aware of services and supports that may be available for them, as well, they do not know how they can access those services and supports.

What makes this project different

A website that is the “single source of information” where individuals can go to find out about government programs and services in language they understand. The site will provide information on the service, who may qualify and how a person can access it.

Anticipated impacts

Seniors and individuals supporting them can easily and quickly access information about relevant services, supports and application procedures. Front line staff working with seniors and their families have an information tool to provide accurate information.

With the information seniors are able to make timely and informed decisions to access services and supports they need.

As a result, seniors will have access to services and supports in their communities that can support them to remain in their own homes and communities.
