About the project:

The issue

This project aims to rectify the lack of support and services available to enable caregivers to continue assisting seniors.

The importance

It is essential that attention be paid to this issue as caregivers are instrumental to having seniors continue to live in their homes. Without them, many seniors would have to leave their home and move into a long-term care facility.

What makes this project different

The goal of the research project is to have seniors continue to live in their homes in rural and Francophone regions by providing support to caregivers. The focus is particularly on providing training to support caregivers, establishing support groups, offering information tools and services for caregivers and creating awareness of their role in offering care to seniors in our communities.

Anticipated impacts

On a personal level, caregivers will feel they are receiving support in their role as caregivers. In addition, members of the community along with community and government services will become more aware of the reality of caregivers.
