Mac users on Fredericton campus: Pop-up window appearing asking for credentials
Some Mac users working on the Fredericton campus are seeing a pop-up window appear every 15-20 minutes asking you to enter your credentials. Please ignore this window and, instead, make the following change to your Mac to stop the pop-up window from appearing again.
If you are working from home, you do not need to make this change but should once you return to campus.
You must be on campus and connected to UNB’s wired network to complete the next steps.
How to disable the pop-up window:
1. Open ‘System Preferences’
2. Select ‘Network’
3. Select the wired network adapter: choose the network name with a green dot and <…> next to it
4. Click the ‘Advanced’ button
5. Select the ‘802.1X’ tab
6. Uncheck the box labeled ‘Enable automatic connection’
7. Click ‘OK’ and close the system preferences window
If you have any issues changing this setting please contact your Level 1 or the IT Service Desk for help.
This pop-up window began appearing for some Mac users working on the campus after UNB Fredericton’s wired network registration system was upgraded (June 3). If you use a Mac and are working on campus but are not seeing the pop-up window, you can choose to make this change as well to ensure it doesn’t start appearing.
