Wireless

All UNB Campuses

ITS was recently made aware of a world-wide security vulnerability for devices connecting to eduroam (UNB’s Wi-Fi and also used by other institutions around the globe).

This vulnerability was identified during regular security testing by another institution and can be avoided by connecting to eduroam using the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT).

To our knowledge, no UNB accounts have been compromised; however, we are asking faculty, staff and students to take steps to help ensure your devices are connecting to eduroam securely.

ACTION REQUIRED (all faculty/staff/students):

Install eduroam CAT on all devices connecting to eduroam (laptops, smartphones, tablets).

  • Don’t forget to add ‘@unb.ca’ (UNBloginID@unb.ca) when you log in to eduroam CAT
  • You do not need to be on campus to do this.

Instructions at: www.unb.ca/its/wireless.html

Precautionary steps:

  • If you’ve recently experienced unexpected certificate issues connecting to eduroam, change your UNB password.
    • Faculty/Staff: Go to myUNB Portal > eServices > IT Services > Account Options > Change your password
    • Students: Go to myUNB Portal > eServices > Personal > Change My Password
  • In general, do not ‘trust’ invalid security certificates.
