Do you have a UNB-owned Windows 7 computer?

Support for Windows 7 at UNB is ending on Dec. 1, 2019. You must have your computer updated to Windows 10 before this date to continue to access the UNB network.

For guidance on how to update your computer, please contact your departmental Level 1 or the IT Service Desk as soon as possible.

Note: It’s important that you back up your files before your computer is updated.

If you have hardware or software concerns, please contact the IT Service Desk by Nov. 1 and we’ll work with you to find a solution.

Why is this necessary?

Microsoft announced security updates will not be provided for computers running Windows 7 as of Jan. 14, 2020. To help protect UNB’s network and data from security threats, Windows 7 will no longer be supported at UNB as of Dec. 1.

What if my computer isn’t updated before Dec. 1?

Starting Dec. 1, remaining UNB-owned Windows 7 computers will be removed from the UNB network.

This means you won’t be able to access:

  • UNB’s wired and wireless networks
  • Secure UNB services
  • Network printing and drives

Not sure which version of Windows you’re running?

Contact the IT Service Desk or your Level 1 for assistance.
