Macaulay-O'Sullivan Award Winners 2012

The Energy Upgrades to the Head Hall Engineering Complex, carried out by Facilities Management staff under the auspices of the Energy Management Program.  This award-winning project has resulted in savings of more than $200,000 annually and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.  In May, this project was recognized at the annual Premier’s Awards for Energy Efficiency, winning the Outstanding Energy Efficiency Award in the Commercial Retrofit Category.

Of the project, Dave Coleman, Dean of Engineering, wrote, “Our students, faculty and staff recognize the environmental benefits of this upgrade and the payback time on this investment is going to be short.  It has been particularly gratifying to see how this effort by UNB has been recognized with a major award from Efficiency NB, through a feature article in Canadian Builders Quarterly magazine, and as a featured presentation at the ERAPPA 2011 annual conference.”

Those who made the project a success were Mike Carter, Tom Gilmore, Craig Hickey, Barbara Nicholson, Arthur Walsh, Gary Wilkinson.
