The University of New Brunswick Saint John welcomes applications for the position of Manager of Academic Advising Services with the Office of the Registrar. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $55,241 - $71,811 per annum.
The Office of the Registrar offers services to students, and faculty/staff in admission, enrolment, strategic enrolment planning, academic advising receipting and payment plans, transfer, Indigenous and curriculum maintenance. The office works in a collaborative team-oriented approach to support academic framework services for students through the life cycle.
Position summary:
- Manage daily staff and unit. Plan to work towards completion of academic advising goals. Review progress towards goals. Identify challenges impeding academic advising.
- Manage Advising platform and usage within UNB Saint John.
- Coordinate with academic unit partners and providers regarding updates, adjustments, and UNB Saint John advising strategies and usage within advising platform.
- Establish best practices and procedures for usage within advising platform to support students, academic records, academic plans, and campus strategic goals.
- Lead research and development relating to the platform and related business processes.
- Consult and identify strategy, plan, and service delivery to meet student needs, and to support the academic plans of the faculties and academic units, as required.
- Oversee credential audit processes. Coordinate with academic units and partners through assessment process.
- Review annual plans against outcomes and goals, and academic plans. Maintain awareness of trends and pathways.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners as required to develop, support, and review UNB Saint John goals. Lead review of retention surveys and reviews, progression, and retention indicators.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in increasingly senior leadership roles within a university environment.
- Minimum three years of employment in a customer service role.
- Minimum two years working with, or in support of, students in any educational environment.
- Experience in an Ellucian Colleague environment, with databases, and Microsoft 0365 environment preferred.
- Exceptional level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Adherence to privacy and confidentiality. Able to work within UNB regulations, procedures, and privacy laws.
- Flexibility and creative thinking.
